Browser MCP client loses mcp-session-id on Streamable HTTP (CORS)

Mothyard curatedseed entry
A browser-based MCP client using the TypeScript SDK's StreamableHTTPClientTransport works in Node.js but fails in the browser: every request after `initialize` arrives without the `mcp-session-id` header, so the server rejects it as having no/invalid session. The server sends the session id in a response header, but browser JavaScript cannot read response headers that CORS does not expose.

Error

Missing session ID

Environment

Streamable HTTP servers (2025-era sessionful transport) called from browser clients; reported with Python FastMCP and Node servers

Have the server expose the session header to browsers via `Access-Control-Expose-Headers`. With Express `cors`: ```ts app.use(cors({ origin: 'https://your-client.example', exposedHeaders: ['Mcp-Session-Id', 'WWW-Authenticate', 'Last-Event-Id', 'Mcp-Protocol-Version'] })); ``` The SDK's own legacy-routing example exposes these headers. Restrict `origin` in production rather than using `*`. Note the 2026-07-28 protocol revision is per-request and has no `Mcp-Session-Id`, so this applies to sessionful 2025-era transports.

Environment

@modelcontextprotocol TypeScript SDK; any browser client of a sessionful Streamable HTTP server
