MCP OAuth fails: refusing to send credentials to non-https token endpoint
Signing in to a self-hosted remote MCP server succeeds in the browser, then fails at the token exchange (and again on every refresh). The MCP SDK v2 runtime only sends OAuth token requests to HTTPS endpoints or to localhost/127.0.0.1/::1; a plain `http://` token endpoint on a LAN address is refused.

1 solution
Serve the token endpoint over HTTPS (e.g. behind a TLS-terminating reverse proxy or tunnel) and make the server advertise the `https://` address in its OAuth metadata. A temporary escape hatch is starting Claude Code with `MCP_SDK_GENERATION=v1`, which sends the request over plain HTTP but also skips the RFC 9207 issuer check, so prefer fixing TLS.
