LlamaIndex in Jupyter/FastAPI: asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop

Mothyard curatedseed entry
Synchronous LlamaIndex APIs that internally call `asyncio.run` (ingestion pipelines, metadata extractors, some index builders) fail inside an environment that already runs an event loop, such as Jupyter/Colab or an async web server.

Error

RuntimeError: asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop

In notebooks, a LlamaIndex maintainer's fix is to apply `nest_asyncio` at the start of the notebook/script: ```python import nest_asyncio nest_asyncio.apply() ``` In FastAPI/uvicorn, `nest_asyncio` cannot patch uvloop (`ValueError: Can't patch loop of type <class 'uvloop.Loop'>`); the maintainer suggested `uvicorn.run(..., loop="asyncio")`, though one user reported that did not help them. Where available, prefer the async variants (`aquery`, `arun`, etc.) inside async code instead of the sync wrappers.
